We had a great day today in Trinity College Dublin at the All- Ireland Pangea Maths Olympiad. Our eight pupils from 5th & 6th had an early start to arrive Thomas Davis Theatre for registration and to commence the competition at 11 am. All pupils got a certificate noting their achievement which was noteworthy with over 5,000 pupils in Ireland involved at Primary & Secondary levels.
The prize giving ceremony was held in the same threatre and we were thrilled to hear Ava’s name being called out as third place in 6th class at these Maths Olympiad where she was presented with her Maths Olympiad bronze medal and a gift voucher for €75 .
Congrats to Ava and her family . Ava’s Parents Michelle & Declan were there to share in Ava’s great achievement. Well done to all seven other pupils from Breaffy who reached such a high standard nationally . Mr Canny & Mr Duggan were thrilled with their achievement. The proportion of pupils from Breaffy NS reflects very well on the standard of maths taught by our teachers.
I suspect our eight contestants and other pupils from our school will be entering this competition next year.
Notably our pupils were addressed by distinguished scholars and professors of maths and science from TCD & TUD (DIT)who told of their respective routes to academia in math which were very interesting.
Maith Sibh!
