Breaffy NS played Castlebar Primary School in a friendly chess tournament on Tuesday 28th of Jan, 2025. Pupils from 3rd to 6th class took part. They all really enjoyed the experience. They developed their chess skills and made new friendships. Thanks to Mr. McHugh and the staff of Castlebar Primary school for organising the event and making us feel so welcome. We will play the return tournament in Breaffy in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

Our school is beautifully situated beside Breaffy Wood, two miles east of Castlebar on the main Castlebar-Galway road. There are 415 pupils on the roll. This is a mixed school catering for pupils from infants to sixth class. We have twenty-six teachers, one SNAs, a secretary , a caretaker and a cleaner.
