Fáilte on bPriomh-Oide / Principal’s welcome
I welcome you to Breaffy National School, Breaffy, Castlebar and express the hope that this website will provide you with important information about our school.
A number of core principles and values determine the ethos, spirit and practices in our school, as follows:
We are a Catholic school. We are an inclusive school.
We aim to work in a spirit of close co-operation with each pupil and their parents/guardians as we take a shared responsibility in your child’s education .
We place considerable emphasis on the importance of a happy working atmosphere in the school that is based on mutual respect amongst all who attend and work here. We like to see our pupils happy going to and from school. Our school is known to be a happy school and pupils learn better in that kind of environment.
We recognise that each child in the school has strengths, weaknesses, needs and wants that are particular to them.
Within the confines of a school system we do all in our power to both recognise and cater for individuality and diversity. It is for this reason that we attach great importance to providing a broad curriculum, a wide range of extra-curricular activities while maintaining a strong school community environment that we are known for.
Our school was established in 1890. Our school is proud of it’s history, tradition and past-achievements. We are however also mindful of current educational reform and change as we look forward to a bright future. To this end, we are committed to bringing the best of our teaching traditions, embracing new teaching and learning programmes and technologies in our busy and progressive school.
We aim to give your child a love of learning and life.
It is our strongest hope that your association with Breaffy Ns will be both happy and successful and that, working together, we can do our best for your child
