6th Class Big Screen Graduation

We were delighted to host our outdoor graduation yesterday in Breaffy House Hotel Carpark. The event was a huge success with a celebration of pupils work,  talent and creativity. The graduation commenced at 6 pm following two metre social distancing protocols. Our pupils got a chance to wear their 6th Class hoodies for this school occasion.
The event commenced promptly on the beautiful evening with a welcome from the Principal and a video message from an t-Uachtarán Michael D Higgins on the big screen. Luckily the weather was good but had it rained parents could have stayed in their cars , viewed the events on the big screen and tuned in the the dedicated event frequency on their car radio.
This was followed by video messages of encouragement from Cora Stsunton , Nicholas Quinn , Aidan O Shea and Robbie Henshaw.

These messages were very welcome considering pupils had missed out on the annual talent show , jumble sale , school tour to Dublin and sports events. Our 6th class raised €1230 for Pieta House.

A seven minute video clip of their very successful concert was then shown on the big screen.

This was followed by a Zoom Choral production of the song ‘ When I Grow Up ‘

Mr  Canny’s sister Lisa, a professional musician worked with the pupils and both teachers for this unique performance . This song was posted on Breaffy House Hotel Facebook page and had 6,900 views within 24 hours… truly amazing !

Mr Moran the principal gave his address commending all pupils for their leadership as ‘the sharp ones’ in adapting to school work and Covid protocols during the continuing pandemic. The ‘ Pencil Metaphor ‘ was displayed on the big screen. Mr  G Moran also commended both teachers for their leadership as sharp ones in delivering such a successful programme to mark this transition from our school. The Parents Assoc & B OM were also thanked for supporting the event with their resources.

Mr G Moran introduced a 20 min video story of each pupils as they progressed through the school . This brought a lot of emotion and to the surface to all there.

Michael Mc Donnell – Parent , Mark Fahey – Parent , An Garda Síochana and 15 parents teaching staff and Breaffy House Hotel were thanked for their help with set up and traffic management.
Mr John Moran and Mr Alan Canny presented each pupil with a souvenir booklet that included the message from our president .
