Breaffy NS Girls win the Connacht Mini-Sevens Title.
Breaffy NS Girls began their mini-sevens campaign by winning the Castlebar Area Tournament in early September, defeating Ballyvary NS in an exciting final. Subsequent wins over Lankill NS, Westport and Tonragee NS, Achill brought the Breaffy Girls to the University of Galway Connacht GAA Dome in Bekan in late October where they defeated MeelickNS, Swinford and The Quay NS, Ballina to become County Champions. They returned to the Dome on November 12 to represent Mayo against the best in Connacht. Tremendous wins over the Roscommon, Sligo and Leitrim champions brought Breaffy NS to a thrilling showdown with Galway champions, Clonberne NS. A thrilling second half comeback by Breaffy Girls ultimately won the day, and they were crowned Connacht Champions for 2024 in front of their jubilant supporters and very proud teachers, Seán Grealis, Deirdre Mannion and Sinéad Commons and all our 14 teachers who do voluntary after school football training with our girls and boys. Ms Mannion recounted today at our Teacht le Chéile how proud the school is of proud of their achievement, how the girls listened and responded so well to the guidance of Mr Grealis, his superb tactical advice and motivational speech at half time.
