Junior Infant Information Night

Our infant parents were met and greeted by  Deputy Principal , Brendan Duignan and George Moran Principal at the front entrance.

Our team of infant teachers, Siobhán Doherty, Déirdre Mannion, Cliodhna McHugh and John Gibbons lead an information night for parents of Junior Infants ,whose children started with us this year,  in Ms McHugh’s Clsssroom.

Mr George Moran  welcomed the parents and introduced the teachers. We are delighted with the large turnout of parents.

Mr Moran also outlined the great work and commitment of our Parents’ Association that supports our school endeavour.

All the infant teachers gave very informative and helpful tips to the parents to give their child the best start possible. Key information on English , Irish, Maths and SPHE were shared. Parents were briefed by Ms Mannion on the role of the support teacher working with both classes inside the classroom and by withdrawal for a ‘boost’.

Mr Gibbons outlined how our special class works for junior infants. Parents were also informed about the Hegarty Literacy Programme and how homework is shared on Aladdin Noticeboard.

Emphasis was placed on punctuality and healthy lunches.

Mr Gibbons outlined how he teaches in our special class for pupils that has some junior infants who also attend the mainstream classes.

Mr Duignan thanked our teachers for their presentation and complimented them on the standard of their work and  commitment to education. He outlined that our teachers and principal  keep  the pupil central to their best efforts at all times in line with our school ethos.

Mr Duignan invited all parents to the staffroom for refreshments organised by Jenifer & Karen from our PA. It was a very social event where parents got to meet other parents and chat with the teachers. George outlined the recent projects undertaken by the PA in partnership with our Board of  Management.

A good number of the new parents have volunteered to support the work of our PA in our busy, friendly & progressive school community.
